A RESOLUTION
To commend the Honorable Valarie Hodges and to express enduring gratitude for her
outstanding contributions to the parishes of East Baton Rouge and Livingston and
the state of Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as a distinguished member of
the Louisiana House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, Valarie Hodges is a notable public servant who has served with
excellence for three terms as a state representative since taking office in 2012, during which
time she has fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 64 and the state
in an honorable and dedicated manner; and
WHEREAS, Representative Hodges has been a proud member of the Capital Region
Legislative Delegation, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus, the Louisiana
Republican Legislative Delegation, and the Louisiana Rural Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Representative Hodges's diligent committee service has included
serving as vice chair of the House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations; she has also
served as a member of the House Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice, the
House Committee on House and Governmental Affairs, the House Committee on Civil Law
and Procedure, the House Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on Judiciary,
the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works, the House Select

Committee on Homeland Security, the House Select Committee on Women and Children,
and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget; and
WHEREAS, during her time in the House of Representatives, Representative Hodges
has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
WHEREAS, Valarie Hodges will forever have a special place in the chronicles of the
history of Louisiana, for she is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public servants; and
WHEREAS, as she prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
of her life, Representative Hodges merits a sincere measure of commendation for her
singular contributions and the exemplary strides she has taken as an exceptional member of
the Louisiana House of Representatives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Valarie Hodges; does hereby
extend honor and recognition to her for her outstanding contributions during her tenure as
a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been marked
by her uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of her constituents in the parishes
of East Baton Rouge and Livingston and the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute
to her for the generous and effective way in which she has dedicated her intelligence and
energy to the service of her family, friends, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives does
hereby express enduring gratitude to Representative Hodges for her service to the citizens
of Louisiana, as evidenced by her superlative achievements as a member of this
distinguished body, and does hereby extend to her the best wishes of all her colleagues for
continued prosperity and success in her future endeavors.
