ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 30 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROMERO A RESOLUTION To commend the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association for its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association's "Plants Make a Difference" campaign is aimed at educating Louisianians about the many vitally important benefits of having more plants in our lives; and WHEREAS, plants provide a number of benefits to people; studies suggest that individuals who play or spend time in a natural environment more frequently experience lower levels of stress, higher concentration, greater fitness, improved reasoning, and sharper observational skills; and WHEREAS, plants are also incredibly effective in helping to conserve energy; homeowners can save up to 25% of their energy costs by simply investing in effective landscaping with plants and trees; landscaping also yields an average of 110% returns on every dollar invested, and properties that are well-landscaped typically sell faster; and WHEREAS, plants also provide an economic benefit to businesses as beautification projects using trees, plants, and flowers to draw more customers, reduce shopper and employee stress, and enhance a store's appeal; businesses with more plants and higher quality landscaping invite customers to shop longer than they would at a less aesthetically pleasing business; and WHEREAS, most importantly, plants and trees remove carbon from our atmosphere, give us oxygen to breathe, and filter the water we drink; and WHEREAS, the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association is most deserving of recognition for its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 30 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association for its "Plants Make a Difference" campaign and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that all Louisianians recognize the integral role that plants play in our lives and continue to support and maintain our beautiful state's natural environment.
