ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 33 BY REPRESENTATIVE FREEMAN A RESOLUTION To commend Carry The Load on the occasion of the organization's twelfth anniversary. WHEREAS, Carry The Load in a nonprofit organization with a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day; the organization began on Memorial Day in 2011 with the first Dallas Memorial March at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas, where four hundred participants marched for twenty hours and eleven minutes and raised nearly $50,000 to fund healing services for the mind, body, and soul of our veterans; and WHEREAS, Carry The Load has grown to encompass more than just military veterans and their families, and the organization has also expanded its activities to include holidays in addition to Memorial Day; and WHEREAS, Carry The Load strives to bring all American citizens together to participate in honoring our nation's heroes on a daily basis; its goal is to raise awareness of those who make daily sacrifices to safeguard American freedoms by providing Americans with an active way to remember, honor, and celebrate these heroes; and WHEREAS, Carry The Load also aims to inspire patriotism in our country's youth by educating them about the American Flag and the sacrifices made to honor it; and WHEREAS, 2023 marks twelve years since the founding of Carry The Load by United States Navy SEAL veterans Clint Bruce and Stephen Holly; both the organization and its founders are most deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible work. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Carry The Load on the occasion of the organization's twelfth anniversary and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the organization continue to receive the support it needs to carry out its inspiring and patriotic mission.
