ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 44 BY REPRESENTATIVES ECHOLS AND THOMPSON A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Jack Marshall Scoggins. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of Representatives has learned of the passing, on September 28, 2022, of Jack Marshall Scoggins; and WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins was a United States Marine Corps veteran and graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in forestry; he was a successful businessman as owner and operator of Scoggins Supply Company in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, for nearly forty years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins was also a very civic-minded individual with a passionate dedication to his community; he served on the board of directors at Morehouse General Hospital, MEDCO, and the Morehouse Chamber of Commerce; he was also a member of First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins loved his family above everything, and he truly cherished being able to spend every moment possible with his grandchildren; he was also passionate about Louisiana State University sports, gardening, and cooking; and WHEREAS, Jack Marshall Scoggins leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Laura Achord, and her fiancé Todd Tarver; siblings, Hazel Lambert, Sybil Stevenson, Nancy Sivils, and Sadie Strahan; grandchildren, Austin Marshall Achord, Mary Blake Achord, and Grayson Achord; very close friend and mother of his daughter, Mary Dale Scoggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends; he will be deeply missed but certainly never forgotten.
