HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 57

A RESOLUTION
To commend Canaan Hoosier on his selection as a 2023 Louisiana Public Broadcasting
Young Hero.
WHEREAS, for twenty-eight years, Louisiana Public Broadcasting's (LPB) Young
Heroes program has recognized state high school students who have excelled in academics,
given significantly of themselves through public service, overcome adversity, exhibited
extraordinary heroism, or displayed exceptional strength of character; and
WHEREAS, Canaan Hoosier is a junior at Buckeye High School in Deville,
Louisiana, and is one of the six 2023 Louisiana Public Broadcasting Young Heroes; and
WHEREAS, Canaan is a selfless young man who has volunteered more than six
hundred hours during his high school career; he is also the co-founder of EarthLove, an
environmental outreach organization; most impressively, Canaan accomplished all of this
in spite of numerous health challenges, including autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia,
multiple eye surgeries, autoimmune issues, and a severe sports injury that left him
temporarily unable to walk; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hoosier is a truly inspiring young man who is most deserving of
the highest recognition for his astounding drive and accomplishments.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Canaan Hoosier on his selection as a 2023
Louisiana Public Broadcasting Young Hero and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he
continue his truly inspiring work and always strive for greatness.
