HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 60

A RESOLUTION
To commend Kelsie Tillage on her selection as a 2023 Louisiana Public Broadcasting
Young Hero.
WHEREAS, for twenty-eight years, Louisiana Public Broadcasting's (LPB) Young
Heroes program has recognized state high school students who have excelled in academics,
given significantly of themselves through public service, overcome adversity, exhibited
extraordinary heroism, or displayed exceptional strength of character; and
WHEREAS, Kelsie Tillage is a senior at Southern University Laboratory School in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is one of the six 2023 Louisiana Public Broadcasting Young
Heroes; and
WHEREAS, Kelsie gives back to her community as a teen writing coach, and she has
galvanized her school to donate more than one thousand seven hundred books to the Center
of Literacy; she received a Gold Medal Congressional Award for over four hundred hours
of volunteer community service; most impressively, Kelsie overcame a reading delay,
speech impediment, and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder to become the avid reader
and literacy advocate that she is today; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tillage is a truly inspiring young woman who is most deserving of
the highest recognition for her astounding drive and accomplishments.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Kelsie Tillage on her selection as a 2023
Louisiana Public Broadcasting Young Hero and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she
continue her truly inspiring work and always strive for greatness.
