HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 62

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Northwood High School Gators basketball team on winning the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association 2023 Division IV state championship.
WHEREAS, the Northwood High School Gators claimed the 2023 Division IV state
title by handily defeating Lincoln Prep, 73-56, in the championship game at Burton
Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Northwood Head Coach Alan Tinsley perfectly prepared the Gators to
handle the pressure that comes with competing for a state championship; senior Omarion
"Diddy" Layssard closed his career with an astounding performance in the championship,
scoring thirty-four points and grabbing eleven rebounds; and
WHEREAS, the Gators' team rebounding also played a pivotal role in the outcome
of the championship game; they grabbed an impressive thirty-nine rebounds with twenty-one
of them coming on the offensive end; and
WHEREAS, the Northwood High School Gators basketball team is most deserving
of the highest recognition for its incredible accomplishments this season.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Northwood High School Gators
basketball team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division
IV state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team's coaches,
players, and training staff continue their incredible work and always strive for greatness.
