ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72 BY REPRESENTATIVE EMERSON A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Darrell Steve Guillory. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of Representatives has learned of the tragic passing, on November 20, 2022, of Darrell Steve Guillory; and WHEREAS, Darrell Steve Guillory was born on January 2, 1956, and was a native of Port Barre, Louisiana; he was also a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a dedicated public servant; and WHEREAS, Darrell first worked as a paramedic with Acadian Ambulance in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, before taking a position as an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD); he went on to serve as a BRPD officer for thirty years, working search and rescue with his K-9 officer, Elka; and WHEREAS, after retiring from the BRPD, Darrell served several local law enforcement agencies including the Brusly Police Department, Carencro Police Department, and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, where he served on the search and dive teams; and WHEREAS, Darrell eventually returned to Port Barre to serve the local police department with his K-9 partner, Jada; he finished his career in law enforcement as an officer in the Youngsville Police Department; and WHEREAS, after fully retiring from law enforcement, Darrell joined the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as a Motorist Assistant Patrol supervisor assisting motorists along Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge and along the Atchafalaya Basin; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 72 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Darrell Steve Guillory leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Denise Dugas Guillory; son, Daniel Guillory; daughter, Ariana Guillory; stepdaughter, Shirine Teague, and her husband Hayes; brothers, Danny Guillory and Clyde Guillory; sister, Judy Perry, and her husband Keith; uncle, Raoul Guillory, Jr.; and aunts, Viola Meche, and her husband Ronnie, Patsy Guidroz, and Adele Carruthers; he will be deeply missed but certainly never forgotten. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Darrell Steve Guillory and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, friends, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of his life.
