HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 93

A RESOLUTION
To designate the month of May 2023 as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Louisiana
and to commend the American Bikers Active Towards Education of Louisiana, Inc.
WHEREAS, American Bikers Active Towards Education of Louisiana, Inc. is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to motorcycle safety, awareness, and realistic motorcycle
legislation; and
WHEREAS, motorcycles are less visible than cars and are often unseen by motorists,
which contributes to thousands of riders and passengers being injured or killed in motorcycle
accidents each year; and
WHEREAS, the number of vehicles, including motorcycles, is expected to increase
on Louisiana roads in the coming years; and
WHEREAS, a concerted effort to bring motorcycle safety and rider awareness to the
forefront is being made; and
WHEREAS, all licensed vehicle operators have the same rights and privileges on our
roads and highways, and all motorists should be aware of their surroundings while driving;
and
WHEREAS, recognizing National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in May, the
National Safety Council reminds riders and drivers throughout the nation to do their part.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate the month of May 2023 as Motorcycle Safety
Awareness Month in Louisiana, and does hereby commend American Bikers Active
Towards Education of Louisiana, Inc., for its work promoting motorcycle safety, awareness,
and reasonable legislation.
