1 AN ACT
2 To enact Subpart S-1 of Part 2-A of Chapter 1 of Subtitle 1 of Title 39 of the Louisiana
3 Revised Statutes of 1950, to be comprised of R.S. 39:100.148 through 100.149,
4 relative to health care workforce initiatives; to create the Expanding Louisiana's
5 Health Care Workforce Fund; to provide for the Expanding Louisiana's Health Care
6 Workforce Program; to provide for grants to expand health care workforce training;
7 and to provide for related matters
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. Subpart S-1 of Part 2-A of Chapter 1 of Subtitle 1 of Title 39 of the
10 Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, comprised of R.S. 39:100.148 through 100.149, is
11 hereby enacted to read as follows:
12 SUBPART S-1. EXPANDING LOUISIANA'S HEALTH CARE WORKFORCE FUND
13 §100.148. Expanding Louisiana's Health Care Workforce Fund
14 A. There is hereby created in the state treasury, as a special fund, the
15 Expanding Louisiana's Health Care Workforce Fund hereinafter referred to in
16 this Section as the "fund".
17 B. Monies in the fund shall be invested in the same manner as monies in

1 the state general fund. Interest earned on the investment of monies in the fund
2 shall be deposited in and credited to the fund. Any unexpended and
3 unencumbered monies remaining in the fund at the end of the fiscal year shall
4 remain in the fund.
5 C. Monies in the fund shall be used to provide grant funding pursuant
6 to the Expanding Louisiana's Health Care Workforce Program as provided in
7 R.S.39:100.149.
8 D. Monies in the fund shall be appropriated by the legislature and used
9 solely for the purposes provided in R.S. 39:100.149.
10 §100.149. Expanding Louisiana's Health Care Workforce Program
11 The Expanding Louisiana's Health Care Workforce Program is hereby
12 established within the Board of Regents to provide grant funding for
13 partnerships between private institutions, employers and post-secondary
14 institutions to pursue innovative collaborations seeking to expand the capacity
15 of the state to recruit, educate and train individuals seeking to enter nursing
16 and allied health professions.
