DIGEST
SB 209 Original 2023 Regular Session	Jackson
Present law defines "abortion" or "induced abortion" as the performance of any act with the
intent to terminate a clinically diagnosable pregnancy with knowledge that the termination
by those means will, with reasonable likelihood, cause the death of the unborn child. Present
law also provides for exceptions to the definition of abortion.
Proposed law retains present law and adds "elective abortion" to the definition of "abortion".
Effective August 1, 2023.
