1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:539(C)(8)(n), relative to employees of the Berwick Housing Authority; to
3 provide that employees of the authority shall not be in the state civil service; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 40:539(C)(8)(n) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง539. Selection of chairman and vice chairman; executive director; hiring of
9 employees

15 (n) Notwithstanding any provision of Subparagraph (a) of this
16 Paragraph or of any other law to the contrary, the Berwick Housing Authority
17 shall not be considered an instrumentality of the state for purposes of Article
18 X, Section 1(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, and employees of the authority
19 shall not be included in the state civil service.
20 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
21 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature

1 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
