SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 106

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball team on
winning the LHSAA 2023 Select Division III state championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the St. Charles Catholic High School Comets baseball team on winning the
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2023 Select Division III state
4 championship.
5 WHEREAS, the St. Charles Catholic High School Comets performed at the highest
6 level of excellence and put on a display worthy of the title of champions; and
7 WHEREAS, Head Coach Wayne Stein and his staff led the Comets baseball team
8 to a thrilling victory over Holy Savior Menard by a score of 9-1 at McMurry Park in
9 Sulphur, Louisiana, on Friday, May 12, 2023, to claim their third state championship title
10 in the last four years; and
11 WHEREAS, Coach Stein and his staff have now coached the Comets to back-to-back
12 baseball state titles in 2022 and 2023; and
13 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
14 without the guidance of the coaching staff who have contributed to the success of the
15 school's baseball program and are worthy of mention for the long hours of practice and
16 preparation that resulted in the team achieving its third state championship title; and
17 WHEREAS, each student athlete on the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball
18 team is notable and worthy of recognition, and the team has brought immense pride and

1 distinguished honor to the school, community, and state; and
2 WHEREAS, after taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, the Comets
3 parlayed a six run fifth inning to put the game away; and
4 WHEREAS, Ayden Authement received the Most Outstanding Player honor after
5 getting three hits and driving in three runs; and
6 WHEREAS, the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball team brings honor and
7 distinction, through its athletic excellence, to the school, the LaPlace community, and the
8 state of Louisiana.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby commend the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball team on winning the
11 LHSAA 2023 Select Division III state championship and does hereby extend best wishes for
12 continued success to the coaches and student athletes of this exceptional program.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
14 St. Charles Catholic High School.
