SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 106

A RESOLUTION
To commend the St. Charles Catholic High School Comets baseball team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) 2023 Select Division III state
championship.
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Catholic High School Comets performed at the highest
level of excellence and put on a display worthy of the title of champions; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Wayne Stein and his staff led the Comets baseball team
to a thrilling victory over Holy Savior Menard by a score of 9-1 at McMurry Park in
Sulphur, Louisiana, on Friday, May 12, 2023, to claim their third state championship title
in the last four years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Stein and his staff have now coached the Comets to back-to-back
baseball state titles in 2022 and 2023; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance of the coaching staff who have contributed to the success of the
school's baseball program and are worthy of mention for the long hours of practice and
preparation that resulted in the team achieving its third state championship title; and
WHEREAS, each student athlete on the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball
team is notable and worthy of recognition, and the team has brought immense pride and
distinguished honor to the school, community, and state; and
WHEREAS, after taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, the Comets
parlayed a six run fifth inning to put the game away; and
WHEREAS, Ayden Authement received the Most Outstanding Player honor after
getting three hits and driving in three runs; and
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball team brings honor and
distinction, through its athletic excellence, to the school, the LaPlace community, and the
state of Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the St. Charles Catholic High School baseball team on winning the
LHSAA 2023 Select Division III state championship and does hereby extend best wishes for
continued success to the coaches and student athletes of this exceptional program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
St. Charles Catholic High School.
