2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171 BY SENATOR SMITH A RESOLUTION To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the passing of Carolyn Cambre Alleman. WHEREAS, it is with great regret that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Carolyn Cambre Alleman at the age of ninety-six, on May 27, 2023; and WHEREAS, Carolyn grew up in Norco and graduated from Destrehan High School; and WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Norco, Louisiana, and in her last years of The Blake apartments in Harahan, Carolyn was an integral and beloved member of her community, her church, and her large and devoted family; and WHEREAS, as a devoted Catholic, Carolyn was very active in her church, singing in the choirs at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Norco and Saint Joan of Arc in LaPlace; and WHEREAS, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and many charitable and community organizations; and WHEREAS, in 1951, she married the love of her life Dr. Earl J. "Doc" Alleman after only four months of knowing each other, but it was clearly the right decision, as they were happily married for fifty-four years until Doc's passing in 2005, and together they raised a large and loving family; and WHEREAS, she was blessed with a remarkable memory, intellectual curiosity, and deep interest in her loved ones, so much so that she ran the "Command Center", keeping track of all the locations and vocations of her many descendants with striking accuracy; and WHEREAS, Carolyn is survived by her sister Patricia Walters and eight children: Nancy Sevo (John), Debby Wilson (George), Jo Ann Soomro (Taj), Earl J. Alleman Jr. aka "Rip" (Debbie), Beth Ramsey (Robert), Allyson Lovetro-Marrero (Alan), Reed Alleman (Elaine), and Kay Pietri (Bill), along with her twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 171 ENROLLED WHEREAS, she is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Hilda Cambre, her beloved husband Dr. Earl J. Alleman, her brothers Maurice Cambre Jr., Rodney Cambre, Dr. Robert G. Cambre, and Harold "Cooney" Cambre; and WHEREAS, ever glamorous and charming, Carolyn lit up the room wherever she went and kept everyone entertained with her sparkling wit and joyful, contagious laugh; and WHEREAS, because of her service to her church, community, and family, Carolyn Cambre Alleman will be forever remembered by her friends, family, and the citizens of Louisiana for her warmth, wit, great organizational skills, and the joy she left in the hearts of all who knew her. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby respectfully acknowledge with gratitude the many accomplishments of Carolyn Cambre Alleman and extends sincere regrets and condolences to her family on the occasion of her death, and salutes her for a life well lived. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to her children: Nancy Sevo, Debby Wilson, Jo Ann Soomro, Earl J.
