2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 47 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To recognize, commend, and congratulate Angelina Bernard Narcisse on the occasion of her 100th birthday. WHEREAS, Angelina B. Narcisse was born on January 2, 1923, and raised on a farm in a French speaking, Cajun family in Vermilion Parish; and WHEREAS, at a very young age, Angelina began working in the fields to help support her family instead of attending school; and WHEREAS, she married Dalton Narcisse on December 28, 1940, and they were married for twenty-nine years until his death; and WHEREAS, Angelina and Dalton worked in the fields to provide for their ten children: Evelyn Narcisse, Alvin Narcisse, Peter Narcisse, Paul Narcisse, Angelina Narcisse-Morgan, Christopher Narcisse, Belva Narcisse-Marsh, Mildred Narcisse-Pratt, the late Calvin Narcisse, and Leo Narcisse; and WHEREAS, in 1954, Angelina became employed in the cafeteria at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she fed the stomachs and hearts of hundreds of students for over sixty-five years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Narcisse was interviewed and hailed as an inspiration on the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and has been featured in several magazines, news articles, and television news stories for her dedication to hard work and kind words to others; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Narcisse has lived her entire adult life in the city of Lafayette as a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church; and WHEREAS, the matriarch of twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-nine great- grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren, Mrs. Narcisse has been described as caring, wonderful, and amazing by former students, a wealth of knowledge by her family, and never having met a stranger as she is instantly loved by her friends. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 47 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize, commend, and congratulate Mrs. Angelina B. Narcisse on the occasion of her 100th birthday and acknowledge her life well spent in service to others. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs. Angelina B.
