2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 49 BY SENATOR ALLAIN A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Conrell Collins Sr. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing, on February 20, 2023, of Conrell Collins Sr.; and WHEREAS, Conrell Collins Sr. was born on December 6, 1926, to Richard and Virginia Baptiste Collins in Charenton, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Conrell was educated in Charenton until he entered the United States Army as a truck driver on May 8, 1945; and WHEREAS, upon his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he enrolled in Trades, Inc. Vocational Schools in Franklin, Louisiana, and completed his education as an automotive and tractor mechanic; and WHEREAS, Conrell found a job that he loved with A.V. Allain & Sons Farm in Adeline, Louisiana, where he worked for over sixty years as a tractor driver and repairman; and WHEREAS, Conrell was a thoughtful family man who loved the Lord and valued education, hard work, and the importance of finding a purpose and setting goals in life; and WHEREAS, he was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over seventy years and an active member of the United Methodist Men; and WHEREAS, Conrell was married to Eliza Patrick Collins, his loving wife for seventy years, until her passing, and they were the proud parents of fourteen children; and WHEREAS, Conrell was preceded in death by his wife, Eliza Patrick Collins; two daughters, Sandra Collins and Annette Collins-Randall; his parents, Richard and Virginia Baptiste Collins; three brothers, Joseph Collins, Willie Collins and Richard Collins Jr.; and grandchildren, Jeremy Dwayne Collins, Telicia Raney, and Kevin Paul Madison; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 49 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Conrell leaves behind to carry on his legacy, twelve children, Virginia "Ginny" Collins, Gerald (Marie) Collins, Conrell Jr. (Patricia) Collins, Iris (John Jr.) Tillman, Cecil (Viline) Collins, Sherry Ann Madison, Sharon Gert (Lonzie) Johnson, Kenneth Collins, Jennifer (Dean) Lanceslin, David (Tameka) Collins, Darrell (Cheryl Ann) Collins, and Renelle (Anthony) Freeman; brother-in-law, Edward Jr. (Olivia Sue) Patrick; sister-in-law, Barbara L. Patrick; adopted daughter, Laquanta S. Collins; goddaughter, Royette Thomas; thirty-one grandchildren, eighty-three great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family; and WHEREAS, Conrell Collins Sr. represented all that is good about Louisiana as a man of faith and generous spirit and his passing leaves a void in the community where he will be truly missed but will never be forgotten. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Conrell Collins Sr. upon the occasion of his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of Conrell Collins Sr. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 2 of 2
