2023 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 64 BY SENATOR FOIL A RESOLUTION To recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as The Arc Appreciation Day in Louisiana. WHEREAS, for sixty-nine years, The Arc of Louisiana has been an advocate with and for all people with intellectual and related developmental disabilities and serving them and their families so that they shall live to their fullest potential; and WHEREAS, The Arc is Louisiana's oldest and largest grassroots advocacy organization with more than ten thousand members affiliated through twenty-two local chapters across the state working to provide additional supports and services to families in communities throughout the state; and WHEREAS, whether it is advocating on behalf of an individual or at the system level, in the state legislature or congress, The Arc's core values of putting people first guides what they do; and WHEREAS, members of The Arc work alongside with the executive branch and legislators to help craft legislation and rules that will protect the rights of individuals with disabilities; and WHEREAS, The Arc serves people with the Office of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, Office of Aging and Adult Services, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Early Steps; and WHEREAS, a few of the services provided by local The Arc chapters across the state include: early intervention, inclusive recreation, personal care assistance, day habilitation, supported employment, community homes, and supervised independent living. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as The Arc Appreciation Day in Louisiana. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 1 of 1
