1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:539(C)(8)(q), relative to the civil service status of employees of the New
3 Roads Public Housing Authority; to provide that employees of the authority shall not
4 be in the state civil service; and to provide for related matters.
5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
6 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
7 Louisiana.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. R.S. 40:539(C)(8)(q) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 ยง539. Selection of chairman and vice chairman; executive director; hiring of

17 (q) Notwithstanding Subparagraph (a) of this Paragraph or of any other law
18 to the contrary, the New Roads Public Housing Authority shall not be considered an

1 instrumentality of the state for purposes of Article X, Section 1(A) of the
2 Constitution of Louisiana, and employees of the authority shall not be included in the
3 state civil service.
