HLS 24RS-161 ENGROSSED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 286 BY REPRESENTATIVE BRAUD HIGHWAYS/INTERSTATE: Provides an exemption from tolls located in a parish with a public-private partnership project 1 AN ACT 2To enact R.S. 47:820.5.10, relative to toll exemptions on public-private partnership projects; 3 to provide exemptions for residents of a parish with a population less than twenty- 4 five thousand in which a public-private partnership for a bridge replacement is 5 entirely located within the parish; and to provide for related matters. 6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 47:820.5.10 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง820.5.10. Exempt toll tag passage on a public-private partnership project; parish 9 residents 10 A.(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, residents 11 of a parish with a population less than twenty-five thousand, according to the latest 12 federal decennial census, in which a public-private partnership project is located 13 shall have free and unhampered passage crossing the public-private partnership 14 project bridge. 15 (2) Any permanent resident of a parish with a population less than twenty- 16 five thousand, according to the latest federal decennial census, in which a public- 17 private partnership for a bridge replacement that is entirely located within the parish 18 shall be exempt from the payment of tolls when crossing the public-private 19 partnership project bridge if the resident purchases an exempt toll tag, presents a Page 1 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. The Department of Transportation and Development shall, in accordance 7 with the Administrative Procedure Act, adopt rules and regulations for the efficient 8 implementation and enforcement of the provisions of this Section. Proposed law requires the Dept. of Transportation and Development to adopt rules and regulations for the efficient implementation and enforcement of the provisions of this proposed law.
