Abstract: Provides for the jurisdiction of justice of the peace courts in Avoyelles Parish.
Present law provides that the justice of the peace courts in Caddo Parish shall have concurrent
jurisdiction with district courts over property standards violations in the district.
Present law provides that a constable of a justice of a peace court in Caddo Parish may issue
summons and serve subpoenas for violations that occur in the district.
Proposed law retains present law and adds the constables and justice of the peace courts in Avoyelles
Parish.
Present law provides that the justice of the peace courts in St. Tammany Parish shall have concurrent
jurisdiction with district courts over property standards and nuisance violations, with the exclusion
of certain wards.
