HOUSE BILL NO. 584

SEAFOOD:  Prohibits the sale of farm-raised shrimp in Louisiana
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:5.5.5, relative to the sale of farm-raised shrimp within Louisiana; to
3 prohibit the sale of farm-raised shrimp in Louisiana; to provide exceptions; to
4 provide relative to aquaculture and food safety standards; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 40:5.5.5 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง5.5.5.  Sale of farm-raised shrimp
9	The sale of farm-raised shrimp within the state is prohibited unless it has
10 been found to comply with federal and state food safety standards applicable to
11 aquacultural products.
