ACT 538 (HB 65) 2024 Regular Session Hilferty
Existing law provides for investigative powers for any local ethics entity, ethics review
board, or office of inspector general.
New law authorizes the inspector general and investigators employed in the New Orleans
Office of Inspector General to carry a firearm provided they annually become P.O.S.T.
certified and have proof of qualification, in addition to a valid identification as a retired law
enforcement officer.
Effective August 1, 2024.
