HOUSE BILL NO. 795

1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 56:3000.1, relative to recreational hunting and fishing licenses; to provide for
3 revenue reductions from free and discounted recreational hunting and fishing
4 licenses; to provide for reimbursement of revenue reductions as a result of free and
5 discounted recreational hunting and fishing licenses; to provide relative to the
6 authority of the legislative auditor; to provide for an effective date; and to provide
7 for related matters.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. R.S. 56:3000.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
10 ยง3000.1. Reimbursement of revenue reductions
11	A. This Section shall apply only to those free and discounted recreational
12 hunting and fishing licenses that are issued on or after July 1, 2024.
13	B. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries shall be reimbursed from the
14 state general fund for any lost revenue resulting from the issuance of free and
15 discounted recreational hunting and fishing licenses in an amount equal to the
16 discounts issued.
17	C. The department shall maintain an accounting of lost revenue and shall
18 include the amount of lost revenue in its annual budget request submitted pursuant
19 to Subpart A of Part II of Chapter 1 of Subtitle I of Title 39 of the Louisiana Revised
20 Statutes of 1950.
21	D. The accounting maintained pursuant to Subsection C of this Section shall
22 be subject to inspection and audit by the legislative auditor.
