LAW ENFORCEMENT: Provides relative to the Peace Officer Standards and Training
Council
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(introductory paragraph) and to enact R.S.
3 40:2403(B)(1)(g), relative to law enforcement officers; to provide relative to the
4 membership of the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training under the
5 Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice;
6 to add members to the commission; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and
9reenacted and R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(g) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 ยง2403. Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training

12 B.(1) The council shall consist of the attorney general and eleven fourteen
13 members of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of
14 Criminal Justice, as follows:

16 (g) Three community leaders from the parishes of Caddo, East Baton Rouge,
17 and Orleans, appointed by the governor.

Abstract: Provides relative to the composition of the Council on Peace Officer Standards
and Training under the La. Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of
Criminal Justice.
Present law provides for the composition of the Council on Peace Officer Standards and
Training under the La. Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal
Justice, and provides for the attorney general and 11 other appointees as members of the
commission.
Proposed law adds three additional appointees as members of the commission.
(Amends R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(intro. para.); Adds R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(g))
