Louisiana Department of Transportation and 6 Development, et al.; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related 7 matters. 8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 9 Section 1. The sum of Forty One Thousand Five Hundred Four and 41/100 10($41,504.41) is hereby payable out of the State General Fund (Direct) for Fiscal Year 2023- 112024 for payment of the following consent judgments rendered against the state, through the 12Department of Transportation and Development, in the following claims against the state: 13 (A) Out of the total amount of the appropriation, Twenty-Two Thousand Eight 14Hundred Seventy-Five and 22/100 ($22,875.22) Dollars is hereby payable for payment of 15the consent judgment captioned "Grayson Frost and Cynthia Wheeler Gossett versus 16Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development and Jatavious Logwood, Steven 17Frost and GoAuto Insurance Company", signed on June 8, 2022, between the state of 18Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and Development, and Cynthia 19Wheeler Gossett, bearing Number 20-0932, on the docket of the Fourth Judicial District, 20parish of Ouachita, state of Louisiana. Page 1 of 3 HLS 24RS-340 ORIGINAL HB NO. 86 1 (B) Out of the total amount of the appropriation, Eighteen Thousand Six Hundred 2Twenty-Nine and 19/100 ($18,629.19) Dollars is hereby payable for payment of the consent 3judgment captioned "Grayson Frost and Cynthia Wheeler Gossett versus Louisiana 4Department of Transportation & Development and Jatavious Logwood, Steven Frost and 5GoAuto Insurance Company", signed on June 8, 2022, between the state of Louisiana, 6through the Department of Transportation and Development, and Grayson Frost, bearing 7Number 20-0932, on the docket of the Fourth Judicial District, parish of Ouachita, state of 8Louisiana. 9 Section 2. Each judgment may only be paid from this appropriation if it is final and 10shall be paid as to principal, interest, court costs, and expert witness fees as awarded in the 11judgment. If the provisions of the judgment conflict with the provisions of this Act, the 12provisions of the judgment shall be controlling. Any other provision of this Act not in 13conflict with the provisions of the judgment shall control. Payment shall be made only after 14presentation to the state treasurer of documentation required by the state treasurer. Further, 15each judgment shall be deemed to have been paid on the effective date of this Act, and 16interest shall cease to run as of that date. 17 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 18signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 19by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 20vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 21effective on the day following such approval.
