GREEN SHEET REDIGEST HB 97 2024 Regular Session McMakin CRIME: Provides relative to the crime of solicitation on certain highways and streets. DIGEST Present law provides that the crime of solicitation on an interstate highway is the intentional act of soliciting, begging, panhandling or otherwise requesting anything of value on any interstate highway or on any entrance or exit ramp of an interstate highway. Proposed law prohibits offering anything of value as an alternative element of this present law crime. Further prohibits the commission of this offense on any public right-of-way. Proposed law provides for a definition of "anything of value". Proposed law provides that the legislature finds that the safety and welfare of both motorists and pedestrians within La. may all be well served by implementation of proposed law.
