ENROLLED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 116 BY REPRESENTATIVES BRASS AND WILEY AND SENATORS LAMBERT AND PRICE A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2024 Division II state championship. WHEREAS, the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team captured the 2024 Division II state championship by outscoring runner-up Grant High School by twenty-eight points in the state championship meet; and WHEREAS, Lutcher's head coaches, Jon and Kelly Magendie, have led the girls' powerlifting program to seventeen consecutive state championships, dating back to 2007; Jon was inducted into the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association (LHSPLA) Hall of Fame in 2016, and Kelly was inducted in 2020; and WHEREAS, Lutcher's Daige Love claimed the 220+ individual state championship, and she was named the Outstanding Lifter, 165-220+; Jayla Johnson won the 105 individual state championship; Blair Ursin won the 148 individual state championship; Malaya Mitchell claimed the 165 individual state championship; Jayslin Langley claimed the 198 individual state championship; and Mikayla Forsythe captured the 220 individual state championship; and WHEREAS, additionally, Blair Ursin earned Composite Academic All-State honors; Jayla Johnson, Mikayla Forsythe, and Daige Love received LHSPLA First Team honors; Blair Ursin, Malaya Mitchell, and Zahyra Hayes received LHSPLA Second Team honors; Amaiya Fobb received LHSPLA Honorable Mention honors. Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 116 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2024 Division II state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the members of the team continue their incredible work and always strive for greatness.
