ENROLLED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 23 BY REPRESENTATIVES EMERSON AND CHASSION A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To designate the city of Carencro as the Seasoning Capital of the World. WHEREAS, the city of Carencro has a distinguished history and a significant contribution to the culinary arts through the production and innovation of seasoning blends that are integral to the cuisine of Louisiana and the world; and WHEREAS, the city of Carencro encourages the preservation of traditional seasoning blending techniques while fostering culinary innovation; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana recognize and celebrate the city of Carencro's contributions to both state and global culinary culture through its seasoning industry and the annual hosting of "The C'est Bon Seasoning Festival of the World"; and WHEREAS, "The C'est Bon Seasoning Festival of the World" promotes tourism and economic development within the city of Carencro and surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, "The C'est Bon Seasoning Festival of the World" serves as a showcase for the city's seasoning industry and a celebration of Louisiana's culinary heritage and its contribution to seasoning worldwide. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate the city of Carencro as the Seasoning Capital of the World. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby encourage the Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism to incorporate this designation and celebration into promotional materials; explore opportunities for state-sponsored events, such as festivals or competitions, that highlight the significance of the seasoning industry in Carencro; and collaborate with local businesses and organizations to support the growth and sustainability of the seasoning industry in the city of Carencro. Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 23 ENROLLED BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize "The C'est Bon Seasoning Festival of the World" as an annual celebration in the city of Carencro that features seasoning and cooking workshops led by renowned chefs and experts; competitions for both amateur and professional chefs, with categories focusing on the innovative use of seasoning in cooking; marketplaces for local and international vendors to sell and showcase their seasoning products; and cultural performances and exhibitions highlighting Louisiana's history and diversity.
