ENROLLED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 204 BY REPRESENTATIVE FREEMAN A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of David LaPlace Shall. WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing, on April 23, 2024, of David LaPlace Shall; and WHEREAS, David LaPlace Shall was born to Philip and Dorothy Shall on December 23, 1958, at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana; he completed an undergraduate degree at Tulane University, where he met his wife, Margaret Clayton Downing Shall; and WHEREAS, David loved New Orleans; he left to attend law school at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, but after one semester, he returned home to complete his law studies at Tulane Law; and WHEREAS, David and his wife raised animals, and he loved building pens for turtles, ducks, bunnies, and whatever other animals his family brought home; he and his daughters, Isabelle and Camille, regularly hung out at Sal's Sno-Balls during the summer, and they all loved going to the shooting range, four-wheeling, and fishing together whenever they had the chance; and WHEREAS, David LaPlace Shall leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his loving wife of forty-two years, Margaret Clayton Downing Shall; daughters, Isabelle LaPlace Shall Lewis (Bradley) and Camille Claiborne Shall; mother, Dorothy Benedict Mayer Shall; sisters, Elaine Michelle Shall, Phyllis Shall Michel (Gerry), and Jean Shall McAuliff (Eddie); brother, Don Philippe Shall (Trisha); and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; he will be deeply missed but certainly never forgotten. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 204 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of David LaPlace Shall and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that his family, friends, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of his beautiful life.
