HLS 24RS-4500 ORIGINAL 2024 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 302 BY REPRESENTATIVE PHELPS COMMENDATIONS: Commends Sherika Clay of Shreveport's Woodlawn High School on her accomplishments in the National Jobs for America's Graduates Career Association 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Sherika Clay of Shreveport's Woodlawn High School on her accomplishments 3 in the National Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Career Association. 4 WHEREAS, Sherika Clay is the JAG-Louisiana specialist at Woodlawn High 5School; during her first year as a JAG specialist, she was recognized as a JAG-LA 6Outstanding Specialist and received the "5 out of 5 Performance Award"; and 7 WHEREAS, Ms. Clay has worked in Caddo Parish schools for fourteen years, 8including five with Woodlawn High School where she has served as Woodlawn's JAG 9specialist since joining the school; and 10 WHEREAS, Ms. Clay was also awarded the 2021 Peak Performance Award, which 11is a national award that recognizes schools that have the highest return-to-school rate of the 12multiyear programs; and 13 WHEREAS, Ms. Clay was named Educator of the Month at Woodlawn High School 14in September 2022; in July 2023, she was awarded the "6 out of 6 Performance Award" for 15her leadership of the multiyear JAG program; and 16 WHEREAS, Ms. Clay has mentored two JAG state officers, a JAG national 17competitor, a JAG national winner, and a JAG national officer; and 18 WHEREAS, Sherika Clay is genuinely passionate about preparing young leaders to 19take on the professional world, and she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her 20inspiring work.
