HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 302
BY REPRESENTATIVE PHELPS
A RESOLUTION
To commend Sherika Clay of Shreveport's Woodlawn High School on her accomplishments
in the National Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Career Association.
WHEREAS, Sherika Clay is the JAG-Louisiana specialist at Woodlawn High
School; during her first year as a JAG specialist, she was recognized as a JAG-LA
Outstanding Specialist and received the "5 out of 5 Performance Award"; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Clay has worked in Caddo Parish schools for fourteen years,
including five with Woodlawn High School where she has served as Woodlawn's JAG
specialist since joining the school; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Clay was also awarded the 2021 Peak Performance Award, which
is a national award that recognizes schools that have the highest return-to-school rate of the
multiyear programs; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Clay was named Educator of the Month at Woodlawn High School
in September 2022; in July 2023, she was awarded the "6 out of 6 Performance Award" for
her leadership of the multiyear JAG program; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Clay has mentored two JAG state officers, a JAG national
competitor, a JAG national winner, and a JAG national officer; and
WHEREAS, Sherika Clay is genuinely passionate about preparing young leaders to
take on the professional world, and she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her
inspiring work.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Sherika Clay of Shreveport's Woodlawn
High School on her accomplishments in the National Jobs for America's Graduates Career
Association and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she continue her incredible work
and prosper in all of her endeavors.
