HLS 24RS-5339 ORIGINAL 2024 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 336 BY REPRESENTATIVES JACOB LANDRY AND BAYHAM COMMENDATIONS: Commends Drew Brees on his induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Drew Brees on his induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. 3 WHEREAS, Drew Brees served as the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints from 42006 until 2020, and during this time, he established himself as the greatest quarterback in 5team history and one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the National Football 6League; and 7 WHEREAS, Drew led the Saints to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in 8Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010; he tied a Super Bowl record with thirty-two pass 9completions and received the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award; on December 17, 102010, he was named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year; and 11 WHEREAS, Drew's career accolades are truly astonishing; he retired as the NFL's 12all-time leader in passing yards, and he currently holds several career records including the 13most seasons leading the NFL in passing yards and completions and the most seasons with 14five thousand or more passing yards; he is tied for the NFL single-game passing touchdown 15record, and he is the first quarterback to reach eighty thousand passing yards and seven 16thousand pass completions; and 17 WHEREAS, Drew Brees is one of four quarterbacks in NFL history that has beaten 18all thirty-two franchises; and 19 WHEREAS, Drew Brees's most recent achievement comes in the form of his 20induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame; he is most deserving of the highest Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 336 HLS 24RS-5339 ORIGINAL 1recognition for his incredible impact on the city of New Orleans and for his many athletic 2achievements. 3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Drew Brees on his induction into the New 5Orleans Saints Hall of Fame; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for his pivotal role 6in securing the Saints' first-ever Super Bowl victory; and does hereby extend sincerest 7wishes that he continue the excellent work that secured his place among the greatest and 8most beloved professional athletes in Louisiana sports history.
