ENROLLED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 336 BY REPRESENTATIVES JACOB LANDRY AND BAYHAM A RESOLUTION To commend Drew Brees on his induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, Drew Brees served as the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints from 2006 until 2020, and during this time, he established himself as the greatest quarterback in team history and one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League; and WHEREAS, Drew led the Saints to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010; he tied a Super Bowl record with thirty-two pass completions and received the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award; on December 17, 2010, he was named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year; and WHEREAS, Drew's career accolades are truly astonishing; he retired as the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards, and he currently holds several career records including the most seasons leading the NFL in passing yards and completions and the most seasons with five thousand or more passing yards; he is tied for the NFL single-game passing touchdown record, and he is the first quarterback to reach eighty thousand passing yards and seven thousand pass completions; and WHEREAS, Drew Brees is one of four quarterbacks in NFL history that has beaten all thirty-two franchises; and WHEREAS, Drew Brees's most recent achievement comes in the form of his induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame; he is most deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible impact on the city of New Orleans and for his many athletic achievements. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Drew Brees on his induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for his pivotal role Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 336 ENROLLED in securing the Saints' first-ever Super Bowl victory; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continue the excellent work that secured his place among the greatest and most beloved professional athletes in Louisiana sports history.
