HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 63

A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study traffic
congestion on Louisiana Highway 449 and make recommendations for extensions.
WHEREAS, there has been a sizeable increase in traffic congestion on Highway
447; and
WHEREAS, the number of vehicles on this highway are at a rise throughout the city
limits of Walker; and
WHEREAS, there is a proposal for Highway 449 to be extended to the I-12 carrier
including an interchange East and West; and
WHEREAS, the alternative extension of Highway 449 will alleviate traffic
congestion and promote safe traveling; and
WHEREAS, additionally, the extension of Highway 449 would improve accessibility
and connectivity; and
WHEREAS, the proposal would allow rural communities to have more routes to
access vital resources and opportunities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and
Development to study traffic congestion on Louisiana Highway 449 and its possible
extension to I-12.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation and
Development shall submit a written report detailing its findings to the House Committee on
Transportation, Highways and Public Works prior to March 1, 2025.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
