Present law provides for the powers and duties of the boards and commissions governing hospital
service districts. Present law provides that one of the duties is to appoint the necessary standing and
special committees which may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Chapter.
Proposed law requires each hospital service district to have a medical executive committee.
Present law provides for the duties of the director of the hospital service district hospital. Present law
provides that the director should cooperate with the medical staff in the performance of the policies
of the district.
Proposed law retains present law and adds that the director should consult and cooperate with the
medical staff and the medical executive committee.
Present law provides for medical staff; how appointments to the medical staff are made; and the
duties of the medical staff.
Proposed law retains present law relative to the medical staff and adds creation of a medical
executive committee. Proposed law retains present law duties of the medical staff and makes them
applicable to the medical executive committee.
Effective August 1, 2024.
