SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123
BY SENATOR BARROW 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate District Missionary Verline Brock on her 90th birthday and
for her significant contributions to the ministry and community.
WHEREAS, District Missionary Verline Brock is a dutiful, committed, loving, and
humble servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, she is a devoted member of Pleasant Valley Church of God in Christ
(COGIC), serving under the leadership of Elder LeRoy Johnson and Lady Amber Johnson;
and
WHEREAS, her ministry training began under the esteemed leadership of
Superintendent Israel Jackson and Missionary Ophelia Jefferson Jackson, the founder of
Pleasant Valley COGIC; and
WHEREAS, District Missionary Brock's ministry has its roots in her dedicated
service to the Sunshine Band, where she inspired and guided young people at the local,
district, and state levels, culminating in her long tenure as State Sunshine Band President
under the leadership of Bishop W. K. Gordon; and
WHEREAS, she continued her service as chair-lady for the late District Missionary
Alma Bolden and District Missionary Ophelia Jackson of District 1, under the leadership of
Superintendent Dewitt Brock; and
WHEREAS, District Missionary Verline Brock now serves faithfully as District
Missionary of District No. 1 alongside Superintendent Roger V. Mills, under the
jurisdictional leadership of Bishop Howard E. Quillen Jr. and Supervisor, Gwendolyn Bell
Badon; and
WHEREAS, she has been a steadfast example of faith and dedication, continually
inspired and encouraged to uphold the name of the Lord and stay steadfast in her
commitment to Him; and

WHEREAS, she was married to the late Deacon, Emmitt W. Brock, with whom she
was blessed with nine children: James, Janette, Robert, Evie, Shirley, Ella Mae, Gregory,
Donche, and Valencia, along with a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren, all of whom are part of her first ministry; and
WHEREAS, she was a business owner and operator of the Pleasant Valley Daycare
Center, demonstrating her commitment to the community and her values of prayer,
continuous Bible study, and regular church attendance; and
WHEREAS, her mission has always been to sow seeds into people's lives and
encourage them to choose Jesus, with her testimony being that the Word of God not only
saved her but continues to keep her; and
WHEREAS, she was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, on May 21, 1934, the oldest
girl of eleven children to the late Odra and Lealer Lenior, and has been a beacon of holiness
and faith from an early age, leading many family members to salvation; and
WHEREAS, she has witnessed and been a part of many miracles and works of God,
recognizing that she has been sustained by His grace and mercy, giving all glory, honor, and
praise to God; and
WHEREAS, she lives her life as a testament to God's faithfulness and desires to bless
others as she has been blessed.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate District Missionary, Verline Brock, on her 90th
birthday and for her significant contributions to the ministry and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
District Missionary Verline Brock.
