R.S. 28:53(G)(7)(b)(i) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as 10follows: 11 ยง53. [R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 118 Original 2025 Regular Session Egan Abstract: Removes the requirement that an initial examination, conducted prior to issuing an emergency certificate, be executed by a psychiatrist, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, or a psychologist in St. Tammany Parish. Present law requires a psychiatrist, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, or a psychologist to conduct an in-person examination of an individual prior to issuing an emergency certificate. Proposed law changes present law by removing the requirement that the in-person examination be conducted by a psychiatrist, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, or a psychologist.
