WILDLIFE & FISHERIES: Provides relative to mallard hunting licenses for hunting preserves 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 56:651, relative to hunting preserves; to provide for licensing for 3 a hunting preserve outside the coastal zone; and to provide for related matters. 4Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 5 Section 1. R.S. 56:651 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง651. License 7 Any person, firm, or corporation desiring to establish, maintain, or operate 8 a hunting preserve within the state of Louisiana to permit the releasing and shooting 9 or taking of pen-raised quail and pen-raised mallard by the public for a fee or 10 otherwise may apply to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission for a 11 license to do so, and said commission is hereby authorized to issue such an applicant 12 a license for that purpose, upon the conditions set out. The licenses shall only be 13 issued to hunting preserves located outside of the coastal zone encompassing the area 14 south of Interstate 10 from the Texas state line to Baton Rouge, south of Interstate 15 12 from Baton Rouge to Slidell, and south of Interstate 10 from Slidell to the 16 Mississippi state line, with the exception for hunting preserves located within the 17 coastal zone that were designated as a hunting preserve prior to January 1, 2025. Proposed law provides that the licenses be issued only outside the coastal zone except for hunting preserves that were designated as such prior to Jan. 1, 2025.
