PHARMACIES:  Provides relative to retention and archiving of records in the state
prescription monitoring program
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1006(G), relative to record retention of certain information
3 in the state prescription monitoring program; to provide to the retention, archiving,
4 and destruction of audit trail information; to require the Louisiana Board of
5 Pharmacy to establish rulemaking standards for audit trail information; and to
6 provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1006(G) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
9 ยง1006.  Reporting of prescription monitoring information

11	G.  The board shall establish by rulemaking standards for the retention,
12 archiving, and destruction of prescription monitoring information and audit trail
13 information.

Present law requires persons authorized to dispense or distribute controlled dangerous
substances or drugs monitored by the Prescription Monitoring Program to submit certain
information to the La. Board of Pharmacy (board).  
Present law requires the board to establish standards by rulemaking for the retention,
archiving, and destruction of prescription monitoring information.
Proposed law retains present law and further requires the board to establish rulemaking
standards for the retention, archiving, and destruction of audit trail information.
