ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES:  Provides relative to container sizes for beverages of high
alcohol content
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 26:351(3)(a) and (4)(a), relative to container sizes for beverages
3 of high alcohol content; to provide for a maximum number of containers allowed;
4 and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 26:351(3)(a) and (4)(a) are hereby amended and reenacted to read
7as follows:
8 ยง351.  Limitation on size of containers of beverages of high alcoholic content;
9	standards of fill
10	Except for wines, no manufacturer or wholesaler in this state shall have in his
11 possession any beverages of high alcoholic content outside of his bonded stockroom
12 unless they are in containers of no greater capacity than one and seventy-five one
13 hundredths liters.  The standards of fill shall be the following:

15	(3)(a)  Distilled spirits, whether domestically bottled or imported, subject to
16 the metric standard of fill prescribed in Paragraph (1) of this Section shall be packed
17 with the following number of containers per shipping case or container:

Abstract:  Clarifies the number of containers per shipping case that may be shipped by
container size for distilled spirits and wines.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 12 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of 700 milliliters.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of 700 milliliters shall be
packed with not more than 12 containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 24 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of 375 milliliters.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of 375 milliliters shall be
packed with not more than 24 containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 48 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of 200 milliliters.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of 200 milliliters shall be
packed with not more than 48 containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 48 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of 100 milliliters.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of 100 milliliters shall be
packed with not more than 48 containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that wines shall be packed with four containers per shipping case for
container sizes of three liters.
Proposed law changes present law and provides that wines shall be packed with not more
than six containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that wines shall be packed with six containers per shipping case for
container sizes of 1.5 liters.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of 1.5 liters shall be
packed with not more than six containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 12 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of one liter.
Proposed law retains present law and clarifies that container sizes of one liter shall be packed
with not more than 12 containers per shipping case.
Present law provides that distilled spirits shall be packed with 12 containers per shipping
case for container sizes of 750 milliliters.
