R.S. 33:9097.41(A) and (B) are hereby amended and reenacted to read 11as follows: 12 ยง9097.41. Brookstown Neighborhood Area Crime Prevention and Improvement 13 District 14 A. Creation. There is hereby created within the parish of East Baton Rouge, 15 as more specifically provided in Subsection B of this Section, a body politic and 16 corporate which shall be known as the Brookstown Neighborhood Area Crime 17 Prevention and Improvement District, hereinafter referred to as the "district". The 18 district shall be a political subdivision of the state as defined in the Constitution of 19 Louisiana. The boundaries of the district shall be coterminous with the 2 boundaries of the Brookstown Neighborhood Subdivision in East Baton Rouge 3 Parish as established in the official subdivision plat filed with the clerk of court of 4 East Baton Rouge Parish encompass the area included within the following 5 perimeter: beginning at the intersection of Prescott Road and Airline Highway, then 6 west along Prescott Road to its intersection with North Foster Drive, then north along 7 North Foster Drive to its intersection with Airline Highway, then southeast along 8 Airline Highway to the point of beginning. 9 * * * 10 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 11signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 12by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 13vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 14effective on the day following such approval. Present law creates the Brookstown Neighborhood Crime Prevention District in East Baton Rouge Parish as a political subdivision of the state for the purpose of aiding in crime prevention and security of district residents. Provides that the district is governed by a seven-member board of commissioners. Provides for district boundaries and powers and duties. Proposed law changes the name of the district to the Brookstown Area Crime Prevention and Improvement District. Proposed law also changes the district's boundaries. Proposed law otherwise retains present law. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
