COMMERCE:  Provides relative to regulations for short-term rentals
1	AN ACT
2To enact Chapter 50 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be comprised
3 of R.S. 33:9721, relative to regulations for short-term rentals; to provide for
4 regulations a municipality or parish may implement; to provide for definitions; and
5 to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. Chapter 50 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
8comprised of R.S. 33:9721, is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
9 CHAPTER 50.  GENERAL REGULATIONS: SHORT-TERM RENTALS
10 ยง9721.  Short-term rentals
11	A.  A municipality or parish may adopt ordinances to regulate short-term
12 rentals.
13	B.  To regulate a short-term rental, a municipality or parish may do all of the
14 following:
15	(1)  Require a permit for short-term rental owners.
16	(2)  Create a registration of short-term rental owners.
17	(3)  Create fines relative to the misuse of short-term rentals.
18	(4)  Require minimum safety standards for short-term rentals.
19	(5)  Require inspections for short-term rentals.

1	(6)  Restrict the length of time a renter is allowed to stay consecutively at a
2 short-term rental.
3	(7)  Restrict the amount of occupants in a short-term rental.
4	C.  For the purposes of this Section, "short-term rental" means the rental of
5 residential property for overnight accommodations for transient guests for a period
6 of less than twenty-nine days.
