NURSES:  Provides for forensic medical examinations of sexual assault survivors
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1216.1(A)(introductory paragraph), relative to forensic
3 medical examinations of sexual assault survivors; to require a healthcare facility or
4 hospital to offer forensic medical examinations to sexual assault survivors; and to
5 provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1216.1(A)(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and
8reenacted to read as follows: 
9 ยง1216.1.  Procedures for survivors of a sexually oriented criminal offense;
10	immunity; regional plans; maximum allowable costs; definitions; documents
11	requested by victim
12	A. All licensed hospitals and healthcare providers in Louisiana shall offer
13 every sexual assault survivor the opportunity to receive the treatment provided for
14 in this Section.  A licensed hospital or healthcare provider shall adhere to the
15 following procedures if a person presents for treatment as a sexual assault survivor:

Abstract Requires a licensed healthcare facility or hospital to offer treatment and
examinations to sexual assault survivors.
Present law requires all licensed hospitals and healthcare providers in this state to adhere to
certain procedures for the treatment of sexual assault survivors.

examinations to sexual assault survivors.
