PORTS/HARBORS/TERMINALS: Abolishes the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission
1 AN ACT
2To repeal Chapter 44 of Title 34 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, comprised of
3 R.S. 34:3281 through 3286, relative to the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission;
4 to abolish the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission; to repeal all powers and
5 duties of the commission; and to provide that the governing authority of West
6 Feliciana Parish will become the successor of the commission for any unfinished
7 business.
8 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
9 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
10 Louisiana.
11Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
12 Section 1. Chapter 44 of Title 34 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
13comprised of R.S. 34:3281 through 3286, is hereby repealed in its entirety.
14 Section 2. On the effective date of this Act, the governing authority of West
15Feliciana Parish shall become the successor to the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission.
16All unfinished business, documents, money, movable and immovable property, and books
17and records of the port commission shall be transferred to the parish governing authority.
18Any legal proceeding to which the port commission is a party and which is filed, initiated,
19or pending before any court on the effective date of this Act, and all documents involved in
20or affected by said legal proceeding, shall retain their effectiveness and shall be continued
21in the name of the parish governing authority. All obligations of the port commission shall
22be the obligations of the parish governing authority.

Abstract: Abolishes the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission and repeals all the powers
and duties of the commission.
Present law creates the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission which is comprised of nine
members from the parish of West Feliciana. Additionally, grants the commission various
powers and duties, including taxing and bonding authority.
Proposed law abolishes the West Feliciana Parish Port Commission and repeals all of its
powers and duties. Specifies that the West Feliciana Parish governing authority is the port's
successor for any unfinished business and litigation purposes. Specifies that the obligations
of the commission become the obligations of the governing authority.
