COMMENDATIONS: Commends Bryson "Cupid" Bernard for his achievements as a
recording artist and recognizes him as the Linedance King of the World
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Bryson "Cupid" Bernard for his achievements as a recording artist and to
3 recognize him as the Linedance King of the World.
4 WHEREAS, Bryson "Cupid" Bernard was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and began
5singing at a very young age in church and local talent shows; he was a standout high school
6football and track athlete and ran track for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; and
7 WHEREAS, Cupid's passion for music outgrew his desire to run track, and he left
8the track team to record music with his classmates in a group named "5th Element"; he left
9the group to perform solo and recorded his first local hit, "Do Yo Thang", in 2001; and
10 WHEREAS, Cupid recorded a string of local hits from 2001 to 2005, including
11"Check Yo Girl, Check Yo Guy", "Swing Around the Rosey", and "The BBQ"; he recorded
12his national line dance hit "The Cupid Shuffle" in August of 2006 and signed with Atlantic
13Records in January 2007; and
14 WHEREAS, Cupid is a Certified 7X Platinum recording artist who is now
15approaching Diamond status; his wide-ranging appeal has allowed him to tour and perform
16across different genres; he has spearheaded music advertising campaigns for Walmart and
17McDonald's, and his music has been featured in both movies and television shows; and
18 WHEREAS, Cupid is especially dedicated to and talented at making "Linedance
19music", or music created specifically for a line dance, and he is most deserving of the highest
20recognition for his incredible music career.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
2commend Bryson "Cupid" Bernard for his achievements as a recording artist and does
3hereby recognize him as the Linedance King of the World.
