COMMENDATIONS: Commends Parkway High School girls' basketball coach Gloria
Williams on her successful career
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Parkway High School girls' basketball coach Gloria Williams on her
3 successful career.
4 WHEREAS, Gloria Williams has led the Parkway High School girls' basketball
5program since 2016, and in nine seasons as the Lady Panthers' head coach, she has achieved
6an overall record of one hundred ninety-six wins and eighty-one losses; she has been
7especially successful over the past six seasons, leading the team to an incredible record of
8one hundred sixty-four wins and only thirty-two losses; and
9 WHEREAS, prior to the arrival of Coach Williams, the Parkway Lady Panthers had
10zero state championship appearances; the team earned its first championship appearance in
112022, which began a streak of four consecutive state championship appearances; the
12program also claimed its first and second state titles with back-to-back Division I Non-select
13Girls' state championship victories in 2023 and 2024; and
14 WHEREAS, Coach Williams has received numerous awards and honors for her
15incredible achievements while leading the Parkway Lady Panthers; she is a two-time
16Shreveport Times All-City Coach of the Year, the 2023 Shreveport Times/Richard Lary
17Coach of the Year, and a two-time Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 5A Coach
18of the Year; and
19 WHEREAS, Coach Williams coached two players who were recognized by the
20Louisiana Sports Writers Association as Outstanding Players of Class 5A, Mikaylah
21Williams and Chloe Larry; Mikaylah Williams, who is a current member of the Louisiana

1State University women's basketball team, was also a two-time Louisiana Gatorade Player
2of the Year and a McDonald's All-American; Chloe Larry currently plays for the Tennessee
3Tech University women's basketball team; and
4 WHEREAS, Coach Gloria Williams is a truly incredible leader who is most
5deserving of the highest recognition for her dedication to the Parkway High School girls'
6basketball team and for her outstanding coaching achievements.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Parkway High School girls' basketball coach
9Gloria Williams on her successful career and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she
10continue to prosper in all of her future endeavors for many years to come.
