HLS 25RS-900 ORIGINAL 2025 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 27 BY REPRESENTATIVE MUSCARELLO COMMENDATIONS: Commends the 2025 Sicilian Festival Royal Court 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend the 2025 Sicilian Heritage Festival in Independence, Louisiana, and its royal 3 court on the occasion of the festival's seventeenth anniversary. 4 WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival celebrates the beautiful and rich Sicilian 5history that is prominent in the Tangipahoa Parish town of Independence; and 6 WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival is held annually in downtown 7Independence; and 8 WHEREAS, this year's festival honors the 2025 royal court members: King XVI, 9Jerome Guzzardo; Queen XVI, Allie Landry; Madre, Cathy Phillips; and Grand Marshal, 10Mike Polito; and 11 WHEREAS, features of the Sicilian Heritage Festival include the Italian Heritage 12Cultural Museum, street dancing, live entertainment, a parade, a spaghetti cook-off, and a 13meatball toss competition; and 14 WHEREAS, the Sicilian Heritage Festival is a cherished local event that honors the 15cultural influence of Louisiana's Sicilian communities and is most worthy of recognition. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2025 Sicilian Heritage Festival in 18Independence, Louisiana, and its royal court on the occasion of the festival's seventeenth 19anniversary; does hereby recognize the festival's royal court for serving honorably as 20representatives of the Sicilian community in Independence; and does hereby express great 21pride in the town honoring its Sicilian heritage.
