COMMENDATIONS: Recognizes the America250–Louisiana celebrations on April 18-19,
2025, and commemorates the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the start of the
American Revolution

2To recognize the America250–Louisiana celebrations on April 18-19, 2025, and to
3 commemorate the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the start of the American
4 Revolution.
5 WHEREAS, the "Two Lights for Tomorrow" initiative takes place on Friday, April
618, 2025, and is a part of the America250–Louisiana celebrations; America250 is a
7nationwide project that marks a significant milestone in the march to America's two hundred
8fiftieth birthday on July 4, 2026; and
9 WHEREAS, the two lights derive from the "One if by land, and two if by sea" signal
10and represent Paul Revere's famous ride warning citizens of the impending British invasion
11on the night of April 18, 1775; and
12 WHEREAS, Saturday, April 19, 2025, is the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the
13opening battles of the American Revolution, the Battles of Lexington and Concord; the
14battles featured the famous "shot heard around the world" and marked the beginning of a
15long struggle to free the colonies from the oppression of Great Britain.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize the America250–Louisiana celebrations on
18April 18-19, 2025, and does hereby commemorate the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of
19the start of the American Revolution.
