ENROLLED 2025 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 51 BY REPRESENTATIVE TURNER A RESOLUTION To commend John A. "Yank" Reis on the occasion of his one hundredth birthday. WHEREAS, John A. "Yank" Reis was born on April 30, 1925, in Bristol, Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, Yank served as a Metalsmith First Class in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Dutch West Indies and the Pacific Theater; he worked on PT boats, the same type that John F. Kennedy served on when his boat was destroyed by a Japanese destroyer; and WHEREAS, Yank moved his family from Pennsylvania to Louisiana in 1967 and established himself as a master carpenter; he worked at Ruston Lumber until his retirement at the age of sixty-two, and he worked for himself until the age of ninety-five; and WHEREAS, John A. "Yank" Reis is a genuinely inspiring man who is most deserving of the highest recognition for his service to the United States on the occasion of this landmark lifetime achievement. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend John A. "Yank" Reis on the occasion of his one hundredth birthday; does hereby recognize Yank as one of the newest members of the exclusive club of Louisiana's centenarians; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continue to prosper in all of his endeavors and enjoy good health for years to come.
